Breast Augmentation is the most popular cosmetic surgery procedure performed today. There are many women who use breast augmentation to achieve a greater fullness in their breasts for a variety of personal reasons. Most often a woman has either never been satisfied with their breast size in proportion to the rest of her figure, or a woman has found her breasts have decreased in size over time, after pregnancy and nursing, or weight loss. In some cases, breast augmentation may even be used to correct breast asymmetry. Breast implants are used to achieve the enhancement and implants may be filled with either silicone gel or saline solution; while silicone implants tents to look and feel more natural, saline implants are believed safer in the event of an implant rupture. At the end of the day, the decision to go with saline or silicone implants is a personal one unique to each patient and her goals and lifestyle.

In addition to implant type, there are other considerations such as implant size, shape, texture and placement. Dr. Sundine offers three different incision placements: under the crease of the breast, around the nipple, or in the armpit. The first step in any procedure, is to schedule a consultation with your plastic surgeon to find out if you may be a good candidate for the procedure.
