Neck Lift Newport Beach
If you have begun to notice “bands” cropping up around your neck, you’re not alone. You are simply aging, just like everyone else. The neck is one of the first places to show signs of aging. Over time, the skin loses its elasticity and things begin to sag a little. You may also have a poorly defined neck under the chin and jawline. If you are unhappy with the way your neck looks, Dr. Michael Sundine can help you restore your youthful appearance.
Neck lift surgery removes excess skin under the jawline and on your neck. Fat in the neck may need to be removed above and below the platysma muscle. If you have bands of skin on your neck, Dr. Sundine will also tighten the platysma muscle.

Who Is a Candidate for Neck Lift Surgery?
Prospective neck lift surgery candidates should be in good general health and have realistic expectations of what this surgery can accomplish. After evaluating your neck and skin quality, Dr. Sundine will recommend the best possible treatment approach. For your safety, it is important that you fully disclose your medical history and be honest with what you want your neck to look like after surgery.
The Neck Lift Procedure in Newport Beach
Dr. Sundine will decide where to place the surgical incisions and which technique to use based on your individual aesthetic needs and degree of skin sagging. Just like most invasive plastic surgery procedures, neck lift is performed under general anesthesia at an accredited outpatient surgical center. Small surgical incisions will be placed where they are well hidden, usually under the chin and/or just behind the earlobes. Dr. Sundine will then lift and tighten the neck skin and suture it in place. Excess skin will be removed, and liposuction may be used to remove fat from under the jaw. In cases where a significant number of neck bands are apparent, the platysma muscle will be tightened.
Recovering from Neck Lift Surgery
You will be able to go home about two hours after your neck lift surgery. As you prepare to leave, you will feel a little groggy from the anesthesia, so make sure you have someone to take you home. Your neck might feel tight and sore, but you will not be in significant pain. The incision sites will be covered, and you will be provided with instructions on how to care for them. In the days following, you will need to get plenty of rest and take your medicine so that you remain comfortable. You will be able to return to your routine activities within a week; however, you will still need to follow post-operative instructions for another 10 to 14 days. This includes avoiding smoking and strenuous physical activities, and keeping your head elevated while sleeping. You will be under the regular care of Dr. Sundine and his medical team throughout this time.
