Breast ReductionOne of the clearest indications that breast reduction may be right for you is ptosis of the breasts. Breast ptosis is more commonly understood as drooping or sagging of the female breasts. Breast reduction is a surgical procedure that can reduce the size of overly large breasts and also correct breast ptosis. During a consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon like Dr. Michael Sundine, the surgeon will examine your body type and consider your goals. The degree of breast ptosis is characterized by how much the breast appears to sag or fall forward. On the Regnault ptosis scale, a tool used to measure ptosis, there are four degrees: mild, moderate, advanced and severe. The grade that your breasts fall on the scale will determine many facets of your breast reduction.
