A breast lift, or mastopexy, is a surgical procedure that reduces the size of overly large breasts. For women with overly large breasts, this procedure can relieve secondary health problems such as neck pain, back pain and psychological issues. A mastopexy generally involves incisions along the nipple-areola complex, or NAC. The incisions may be made in a circular fashion or a keyhole fashion, which allow for the removal of excess tissue. The procedure can also correct sagging, which is known as breast ptosis. The positions of the nipples are raised to a more youthful and proportionate position.
