Mommy Makeover Newport Beach
It’s common for women to feel overjoyed about being a mother but less enthused about the toll pregnancy took on their body; this is nothing to feel ashamed of. There are ways to correct the areas of the body that are affected by pregnancy — through diet, exercise, surgical intervention or a combination of the three. Since pregnancy affects more than one area of the body, plastic surgeon Dr. Michael Sundine offers a treatment that addresses all areas in what is essentially one surgery, called a mommy makeover.

Suitable candidates for mommy makeover surgery should be in good health and have reasonable expectations of what surgery can and cannot accomplish. Also, you should finish breastfeeding and be at a stable weight before having the procedure.
The Mommy Makeover Procedure in Newport Beach
A mommy makeover treats the areas of the body that change the most during pregnancy. You can choose to combine breast surgery with an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), as well as liposuction to eliminate fat deposits from the back, thighs and buttocks. Your breast surgery might involve the placement of breast implants, a breast lift or even a reduction, depending on your unique aesthetic needs.
Tummy tuck is often included in a mommy makeover treatment plan because pregnancy can drastically affect the midsection, stretching out the muscles and skin and leaving you with a pregnancy “pooch.” Tummy tuck surgery tightens the abdominal wall, removes excess fat and skin and tightens the remaining skin. Sometimes it can improve the appearance of stretch marks, too.
Liposuction can slim areas of the body that gained weight with pregnancy: the thighs, lower back and buttocks. Buttock enhancement (i.e., Brazilian butt lift) can transform a behind from flat and saggy to curvy and perky.
Dr. Sundine can help you identify the areas of the body that you are unhappy with, and suggest the procedures to best target those areas. He performs mommy makeovers at an accredited surgical center where you will be safe and comfortable.
Recovering from Mommy Makeover Surgery
The recovery from mommy makeover surgery depends on the procedures that were performed. If you have had breast surgery and a tummy tuck you will most likely need to wear special garments (an abdominal binder and a surgical bra) for several weeks following surgery. If you have included butt lift into your mommy makeover, you will need to stay off of your buttocks while the area heals.
You will need to rest at home for several days before Dr. Sundine gives you the go-ahead to return to work and other normal activities. You should also refrain from strenuous exercise and heavy lifting (including lifting children) until Dr. Sundine approves those activities. Dr. Sundine will provide more specific instructions and guidelines for mommy makeover recovery during pre-operative consultations.
